Does He Like It?... and Other Happenings

Bennett has offically become a "big boy"! He had his first taste of rice cereal and was not too pleased with the blandness of it. Since his first experience with eating rice cereal, he has not been happy when we feed it to him. Tim has heard of mixing in apple juice with it to make it taste better, but I'm not sure if it would be okay since he is only 5 months old. I wish we could just skip this part and give him baby food that tastes better! He had his check up and is still in the 97th percentile for weight and 95th for height! He is almost 19 pounds and 28 inches long. We had to finally break out the 12 month old clothes. I'm not too happy about it, since most of them are for the summer! We were anticipating him fitting them in June, not December. I guess that will teach me a lesson about buying clothing in advance!

Bennett had a great first Thanksgiving. My sister has some pictures up on her blog of the family together. In the event of it all, I forgot to bring my camera. I was nervous that I would miss Bennett's first Thanksgiving. I had the flu since the Sunday before and even had to cancel some of my parent/teacher conferences! I was sick all the way up until Thanksgiving morning. I can honestly say that I'm thankful for Pepto, or I wouldn't have survived the day!

I absolutly love that picture and the video! So adorable!!!!! You can put up some Thanksgiving pics from my blog up on yours if you want, I don't mind. When we fed both boys the rice ceral we would always mix it with either breast milk, or apple prune juice to help them not get constipated from it and they always like it better then with just water mixed in it. I don't think he's too young for that because we did that with both boys around 4 or 5 months. Good luck! Oh yeah and let me know when you want to come down here and get the boys pictures with Santa!

OMG! What a doll he is. I'm so excited he's moved on to something other than the boob milk. :o) I suppose you won't have to pump as much now huh? Sorry i really don't have any idea how it all works, but spending this summer with you guys kinda clued me in just a little. Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving Ash! I'm happy you felt better just in time for turkey. My ped. when Jakob was little said to start them on squash and sweet potato and skip the cereal. We've done that with all of them and then add either oat/barley or the mixed cereals later. No allergies and well rounded eaters is what I've ended up with. I've read the whole start with rice cereal is a myth anyway. I can only imagine what goes on in their head when they see everyone else enjoying eating and they get this bland stuff, probably something like "What do they see in stuff. This eating thing is really boring..."
Missed seeing you guys this Thanksgiving!
