Surprised

This post is a little late, seeing how my birthday was two weeks ago. I was going through my camera and thought I better put this up! My fourth graders are so sweet. They surprised me with a birthday party. I don't know how in the world a bunch of nine-year-olds could keep a secret since January, but they did. I have some of the best room parents that helped the kids put the party together. Apparently they have been having "fundraisers" since January to raise money to buy me a Jacob cake and Twilight blanket (Yes, they know that I am obsessed!). Some of the kids actually made bracelets and pillows and sold them to raise money. How cute is that? The party was after lunch (unbeknownst to me). All morning my kids were CRAZY! I was trying to figure out what was going on. I thought maybe the concept I was teaching made no sense. I will say that I am happy that they understood what I was talking about even if their minds were on the party.
I am one of those annoying sappy kind of people. This is probably my favorite gift. One of my girls gave me a jar filled with sand and said each grain of sand stood for someone that loved me. Now I have something to look at when I'm having a rotten day and will be cheered up. As much as I am looking forward to a summer vacation and "sleeping in", I don't think I can let these kids go!
