BOY! We are introducing "Pirate Ship" Shetter. Yes, that is what Bennett has decided he wants to name his little brother. Don't worry, we are really not going to name him Pirate Ship. We are actually leaning more towards Evrhett/Everhett (Rhett).
Rhett looks very healthy (He is already 13 ounces and in the 80th percentile), aside from the fact that he has a choroid plexis cyst on his brain. When the doctor told us this I was devestated. He said that it is common and that we have to wait to see if it will disapate or if it will turn into something more serious. We are trying very hard not to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I go back on the 17th for a more detailed ultrasound. Hopefully the cyst will be gone. We are praying that this baby will be healthy and after a blessing we both feel much comfort.
So there you have it! Baby "Pirate Ship" Shetter!

I guessed boy before I opened the post. Yeah I was right. As for the cyst is the big concern a predisposition towards Down's Syndrome or are their other factors. Did they see any other indicators or markers, kidney dialation, club foot, cleft palate, etc...I'm sure it will all be just perfect.
Ashley... As much as it is easy for us to tell you not to worry, it's more difficult for you to not do so. You are "growing" a baby and doing all you can to have a healthy son. Keep in mind that CPCs are not entirely uncommon, however, the incidence of serious complications related to them is. You have a 99% chance of having a perfectly normal child. That's about as good as you can get. The majority of CPCs are gone by around the 32nd week of pregnancy.
You saw a lot of the baby's features. You were able to see his turned up nose and chubby cheeks. By the sounds of that, you were looking at a very handsome little guy. More than likely if there were any other significant findings, your OB would have picked up on them already. I'm guessing all is well.
Hope this information helps a little. I'll be keeping you in my prayers. All is as it should be.
Congratulations! i've been dying to hear the news! Love the name. Hope your next u/s goes perfectly!
Austen and Rhet are going to be the bestest friends. I can't wait!!!!
I know a girl who had a baby boy a few months ago with the same thing on their ultrasound but all is well! I hope that gives you some comfort!
I kinda like Pirate Ship Shetter...its got a nice alliteration ring to it.
i love that you picked a name that isn't a common name. And of course a name from Gone with the Wind! :o) Congrats - how fun to have two boy close!
Pirate Ship Shetter! I like it! Hey, we had Baby Pants for almost a week before Caed was named!
I actually read this post a while ago and got side tracked researching CDC that I forgot to comment. You guys have been in my prayers. It's really scary to be told that something is not right with your child/pregnancy, even if it is something pretty common. I pray all is well and that you have the strength to carry on until you know more about your little angel. Please inform us all when you find out anything more.
I love you Ash!
